A day trip to Pharping and Dakshinkali

After completion of our Manaslu and Tsum Valley trip a few days left in Kathmandu. A we had seen the highlights of Kathmandu we looked for some places of interests out of the valley. Our guide Pradip from Wilderness Excursion suggested Pharping and Dakshinkali day tour with Bungmati and Khokana. We found Pharping is an old newari town having several majestic Buddhist monasteries; This is one of the most important pilgrimage site in Nepal. We had seen a lot of temples already and this one really was very beautiful.

Down bellow from Pharping, there is Dakshinkaali temple – the temple is dedicated to Kali – the bloodlust Hindu deity. People sacrifice many animal in the main sactum and feast themselves after the offering is made. If you have enough time you should also visit Bhaktapur with a next day tour.
