Nar Phu Valley Trek is located in the isolated corner of the restricted part of Annapurna between Damodar Kunda and Annapurna Circuit part one. The area is untouched by modernity and where people adopted Tibetan culture for many centuries back. This off-the-beaten-track trek from Annapurna offers a real taste of Himalayan lifestyle, culture, tradition, and old Buddhist monasteries, and explore an untouched valley that offers an incredible view of majestic mountains in the high lands along with beautiful medieval and ancient remote villages such as Nar and Phu, amazing rock formations, glaciers, narrow canyons, lovely and pleasant forests, unique Himalayan and Tibetan culture, lifestyles, and high altitude settlements.

Nar Phu Valley predominantly lies in the Manang district of Gandaki Zone. In the beginning, we followed the Annapurna Circuit trail part one till Koto. Nar Phu valley is contracted and forested, the valley opens up to a vast area of high snow-topped peaks, prehistoric villages, and high elevated grazing lands. A very minority number of tourists has walked around this region. While trekking to this occasionally trekked trail we will be camping along the way to Nar and Phu, or we will be organizing a homestay trip to experience and interact with locals. We visit some of the virgin and attractive villages of the Tibetan Buddhists. Buddhist pilgrims probably visit Phu to visit the well-known monastery, Tashi Lhakhang, and get a blessing from the Lama.

Nar Phu Valley Trek rewards you with the total wilderness experience and unexplored Tibetan villages just opened for outsiders only since 2003. This trek takes you to the exotic valley that is in the far-off corner of the Annapurna region. The Nar Phu Valley remains untouched by modernity. Trekking in the area is unlike most of Nepal as the terrain is Trans Himalayan and similar to that of Tibet.

The trail is still rugged and the people and culture have remained intact. A special trekking permit is required to visit this place. After a couple of days of exploration of the valley, we cross over Kang La Pass 5320m on the way to Manang. We join the main trekking trail to Annapurna Round Trek following the best trekking route of Thorong La Pass 5416m. For your kind information, Nar Phu Valley Trek requires a restricted area permit which costs USD 90 per week per person for September to November, USD 75 per week per person or equivalent convertible foreign currency for December to August. In addition, the ACAP Permit is mandatory and costs NPR. 2000.00 Per person. All international trekkers must trek with a licensed guide and trekking must be arranged with a government-registered trekking agency as per Nepal Government Law. Day 01:Kathmandu to Jagat.

Drive to Besi sahar about 5-6 hours and connecting local jeep ride to Jagat at the altitude of 1300 meter from sea level. Overnight stay in lodge.

Day 02:Jagat to Dharapani 1860m (5/6 hours)

In the morning after breakfast, the trail goes gradually uphill to Chamje and cross another suspension bridge and follow the steep rocky trail until reaching Tal village. You can see again very beautiful waterfalls in Tal. You have lunch break here. We continue straight and cross the suspension bridge near Lower Dharapani. You continue a little more climbing and arrive in Higher Dharapani.

Day 03:Dharapani to Koto 2600m (5/6 hours)

Begin the trek in the towards Bagarchhap which takes about 1 hour passing through pine and fir forests. You can visit the white washed monastery in this village. Then you continue your trek till Danaque it takes about 1 hour. The trail is ascending steeply until Timang which takes about 1 and half hour. You have a good view of Mt. Manaslu and Peak 29. Now your trail continues through pine forests again till Latamanang which takes about 1 and half hour. After lunch at Latamanang, walk again through forests and have a short glimpse of Annapurna II. Finally we arrive in Koto village after 1 and half hours walk.

Day 04:Koto to Meta 3570m (7/8 hours)

We register our restricted area permit at the Police check post then start our trek through the River bank of Suti Khola again through wonderful pine forests passing many streams and suspension bridges until reaching Dharmasala which takes about 5 hours. You can see a picturesque Waterfall near the Dharmasala. You have your packed lunch on the way and continue our trek again through forests and ascend steeply till Meta Village, which takes about 1 and half hour. Now we have arrived on the Tibetan Plateau.

Day 05:Meta to Phu 3840m (5/8 hours)

Today, start the trek with up and down as well as on traversing suspension bridges over different streams. We may have chance to see the Blue Sheep during the trail. Now you are in one of the unique Lost/ Hidden Valleys. we see their cultures, natural diversity, and religion of the ethnic groups. The people are depending on subsistence agricultures, animal breeding and seasonal migrations. The very old Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery is listed out of the 108 world’s great Buddhist Monasteries; it is believed to be the last monastery constructed by Karmapa Rinpoche. A great view of Himlung Himal and other snow peaks.

Day 06:An extra day in Phu Villaeg

Today, you can go on an excursion to Tashi Lhakhang or hike to Himlung Base Camp (3-4km). You can skip this day if you are on a time restriction.

Day 07:Trek to Nar Phedi 3500m (5 hours)

Today, the trail descends, passing many streams and suspension bridges until Mahendra Pul which takes about 4 hours. We pass the high suspension bridge 80m over the Gorge of Lapche River. Take lunch at Mahendra Pul and you could make your way up to Nar 2 hours if you still feel stronger. Many people make There is no lodge at Nar Phedi, monastic school privies basic meal and place to sleep. Overnight in monastery.

Day 08:Trek to Nar Village (4100m), 2 hours.

The trail steeply ascends passing many Buddhist stupas until Nar Village which takes about 2 hours. You find here many Buddhist Monasteries to visit as well as a very good view of Pisang Peak and other small peaks.

Day 09:Trekking to Ngawal (3660m) via Kangla Pass (5320m) 8-9 hours.

Two hour walk takes us to Kang La Phedi the trail steeply ascends passing different landslide areas to Kang-La Pass at the height of 5320m, which takes about 2 and half hour. Now you have a superb view of the Annapurna Range and other peaks. Then we descend steeply till Ngawal village which takes about 3 hours. Stay there overnight in lodge.

Day 10:Trekking to Manang 3570m (5 hours) from Ngawal

Today we start the trek after breakfast and leave the trail off to Tilicho Lake on the left corner and continue a short walk up to Manang, a settlement of dramatic village. There are many guest houses, cafes and even trekking shops.

Day 11:A rest day in Manang

We spend a rest day here to re-energize our body, we can explore beautiful surroundings visit Buddhist monasteries or take a day hike to Ice Lake or Tilicho Lake. Stay there overnight.

Day 12:Manang to Tilicho Base Camp (3900 M)

We trek to Tilicho Lake Base Camp at an altitude of 3900 meters from Manang via Shree Kharka. It takes about 5 to 6 hours to get there and we stay there overnight.

Day 13:Day excursion to Tilicho Lake

It is one of the most memorable days today, after breakfast, we gear up for a nice day trip to Tilicho, the Lake in the highest elevation in the world. The journey will take around 6 hours for the round. You can come across Tahr and yaks grazing along the trail. The lake's tint shifts through various blue tones due to the shifting light. We will head back to base camp after spending some time taking pictures and appreciating the lake and the surrounding peaks. It has a 4.8 square kilometer area.

Day 14:Trekking to Leddar from Tilicho Base Camp,

Make your way to Leddar, it will take us some 6 hours and distane will be 12 km. Picking our way past the rocks, the ground finally leveled and Letdar (4200m/13,780ft.) came into view, a simple set of lodges just beyond a small suspension bridge.

Day 15:Trekking to Thorong Phedi or High Camp (4500m)

At 4310 meters, the track falls to cross a river. At 4420 meters, it climbs to Phedi. Recently, numerous excellent guesthouses have been constructed at High Camp, which is located at an elevation of 4600 meters. That's where you will spend the night.

Day 16:Trekking to Muktinath 3800m/10hrs traverse Thorong-La 5,416m

An early start is most important to begin a long day trek over the pass. Crossing this fabulous Throng-La pass {5,416m/17,769ft} will be an unforgettable experience. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It may cause problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. The views from the trail and from the pass itself are outstanding high Himalayan scenes. We will enjoy the top with a hot cup of tea/coffee (But not available from Dec - Feb) and enjoy the celebration of success at the pass. And start a long descent to another part of the Annapurna and reach Muktinath.

Day 17:Muktinath to Jomsom (2800m) via Kagbeni. 6 hours,

Today we will have an easy walking day down to Kagbeni. After 30 30-minute walk from Muktinath, we will arrive at Jharkot, a rich village that still has a similar culture and tradition to Tibet. It is probably the best village to overview the landscapes and combination of dry hills with green fields. We continue to Jomsom. If you are still strong and not tired you can trek to Jomsom via Lupra and Kagbeni which is a classic Tibetan-like village.

Day 18:Early morning flight to Pokhara 8,20m/30mins flight,

We pack our bags in the early morning and get ready for the Trans Himalayan flight to Pokhara. The flight transits between two high peaks Annapurna and Dhaulagiri and gives us a wonderful opportunity to enjoy with best views of the surrounding Himalayas. We have a full afternoon at Pokhara to enjoy its natural side. Stay overnight in the Hotel.
